Coronavirus-related border closures and restrictions have wreaked havoc on the bloc’s tourism industry, leaving countries like Greece, which rely heavily on tourism, particularly exposed. 

There are hopes that Wednesday's announcement could help partly salvage the continent’s crucial summer tourism period.
