Car sales surge for second straight month, rising by 33 pct in May

The number of road motor vehicles (going into circulation for the first time) soared 33 percent in May following a strong rise of 24.5 percent in April, according to Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) data published on Wednesday.

The absolute figure reached 17,290 in May, which is the highest reading since June 2010.
