Deposit interest rates largely unchanged in April, average loan rate increases

Greek households’ new time deposit rate edged up by 2 basis points (bps) to 0.68 percent in April, Bank of Greece (BoG) figures showed on Friday.

The modest increase is the first rise in the time deposit rate since August 2016. It remains close to its historical low and 26 bps higher than the euro area average rate of 0.42 percent.
