Overdue contributions rise by 429 mln to 15.78 bln in Q1

Unpaid social security contributions increased by another 429 million euros quarter on quarter (QoQ) to 15.78 billion at the end of the first quarter (Q1) of 2016, the quarterly bulletin of the Center for the Collection of Social Security Arrears (KEAO) displayed on Wednesday.

Primary cash surplus widens to 2.85 bln in Q1

Greece’s central government primary cash balance improved to 2.85 billion euros in the first quarter (Q1) of 2016 from 1.19 billion last year, Bank of Greece (BoG) figures showed on Wednesday.

The International Monetary Fund spring meetings and the discussions of Greek authorities with eurozone and IMF top officials on the sidelines did not yield any meaningful results apart from a proposal apparently made by the institutions for contingent measures of up to 2 percent of GDP (3.6 billion euros) to bridge the difference between the IMF and the eurozone partners on the fiscal gap to 2018.
