The conviction of the leadership of neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn continues to attract statements of praise and relief from representatives across the political system in Greece, while upcoming decisions on sentencing are becoming the focus of political controversy.

Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Wednesday welcomed the court’s decision, adding that “it amounts to a confirmation that Democracy and its institutions always have the power to overturn any attempt to undermine them”.
