After a day of celebrations, littered with contributions from foreign governments and dignitaries, to mark Greece’s bicentennial on Thursday, the harsh reality of the country’s present challenges struck on Friday.

Top of those for the time being is the coronavirus, which continues to put extreme pressure on Greece’s health system. Despite enlisting the assistance of private hospitals and doctors, Greece continues to struggle with the influx of Covid-19 patients.
