Growing concern over inflation has prompted the government to call on firms to show restraint in passing on rising prices to consumers, as the latest budget figures show the gains from economic growth are being eroded by emergency support measures.
On Monday, Alternate Finance Minister Theodoros Skylakakis issued a plea to businesses to think twice about compromising the momentum of economic growth by “getting caught up in a vicious cycle of inflationary expectations”.
