The government has come under fire from the opposition for not delaying the opening of schools, or introducing more precautions, amid a spike in Covid cases fuelled by the Omicron variant.

Greece reported a new record number of daily infections on Tuesday, when they edged above 50,000, and the number of hospitalisations began to increase again.
