The government breezed through Sunday’s no confidence vote, as expected, following a three-day parliamentary debate that left Greek voters none the wiser about what went wrong in the response to the recent Elpis snowstorm, which was the starting point for SYRIZA tabling a censure motion last week.
New Democracy received 156 votes of support, with just one conservative MP – former Education Minister Marietta Giannakou – not voting in favour as she had to be rushed to the hospital.
