A series of seemingly unguarded comments by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during a televised debate has rekindled opposition attacks over the government’s role in the surveillance of journalists and politicians.
Mitsotakis had hoped to put the subject behind him as elections approach, but SYRIZA and PASOK believe they can use it to weaken the ND president, while it is also seen in some quarters as a key issue in shaping potential coalitions.
