PASOK decides to hold new leadership contest as SYRIZA confusion continues

Following deliberations this weekend, Greece’s third-largest party, centre-left PASOK, is heading for a leadership election in October. In the meantime, there seems to be no end in sight to the internal friction at its main rival, leftist SYRIZA.
PASOK’s central committee met on Sunday to discuss the growing requests for a new leadership contest in the wake of the European Parliament elections on June 9, when PASOK increased its share of the vote but failed to overtake SYRIZA.
