The six candidates in the PASOK leadership contest squared off in a televised debate focussed more on loyalties rather than policies, delivering no clear winner but offering some hints of the rivals’ strengths and weaknesses.
Unusually for the present circumstances, more unity was on show in SYRIZA, where former leader Alexis Tsipras was able to corral the various competing factions under the same roof to hear his views on the future of the party.
