PASOK has emerged stronger in polls conducted since last week’s leadership election, while rival SYRIZA slides further. The public mood remains sombre and a survey on poverty reveals widespread disillusionment in the political system’s capacity to address the problem.
Two opinion polls released this week show the social democrats have made marginal gains in the aftermath of internal elections which saw Nikos Androulakis confirmed as leader after a largely civilised contest.
