Tackling the shortage of affordable housing has emerged as one of the top priorities for the New Democracy government in the coming year, as it is seen as one of the main issues with social footprint and potential political costs.

In Athens, SYRIZA has sided with the PASOK-affiliated mayor in a dispute with the conservative governor of Attica over landfill charges, in a move echoing the tactical alliance between the two parties which won city hall in the last local elections.
