Pressure on the government is set to ratchet up a notch after opposition PASOK announced that it is ready to trigger a preliminary inquiry into the role of one of PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s close aides in the handling of the Tempe rail crash.

The motion, which could result in a criminal prosecution, is the first of several steps that the social democrats plan to take in an attempt to corner New Democracy and PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
