Conclusion of presidential vote hands Mitsotakis victory amid ongoing controversies
The election of Konstantinos Tasoulas as the next President in the fourth round of voting will give PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis some breathing space after a difficult few weeks and allow the government to regroup.
Tasoulas held on to the 160 votes he had garnered in the previous rounds, out of 274 MPs present, clearing the lower hurdle of 151 with relative ease. His support consisted of the governing majority of 156 with the addition of four independents.
