New Democracy has taken advantage of the Tempe issue moving back to the top of the political agenda by turning its fire on PASOK, the party it sees as its most immediate rival.

In the meantime, the ruling centre-right party is going through a new bout of internal unrest due to the unpopularity of a proposed change to the legal status of land in small settlements around Greece.
