A shipwreck off the island of Chios in which 15 migrants lost their lives has reignited the debate on migration, as the government introduces legislation restricting access to legal residency.

A row erupted in Parliament on Wednesday over the government’s stance on migration, as the debate on a new migration bill coincided with news of the sinking of a boat carrying upwards of 40 migrants, believed to be Afghan refugees, in Greek waters.
