Greece makes new proposals in search for deal acceptable to lenders and MPs

Greece submitted some updated proposals to its lenders on Tuesday in the hope of breaking an impasse in bailout talks ahead of a planned meeting between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and other European leaders on Wednesday.

Although unnamed European Union officials seemed to dismiss the new suggestions from Athens, the official line from Brussels was that they would be examined with “diligence and care.”
