The government’s growing problems in dealing with the refugee crisis and the prolonged negotiations with Greece’s lenders are damaging the coalition’s credibility and working in the favour of the opposition parties.

Although events appear to be playing into the hands of New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, there was a reminder on Friday that the recently-elected conservative chief also has his own challenges to deal with.
