Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras treated his MPs to drinks last week and hopes to end this week still able to socialise with SYRIZA members and parliamentarians.
The leftist party’s four-day congress is due to begin on Thursday and Tsipras is bracing to face a wave of discontent but hoping that he can ride it out and emerge stronger by the end of the gathering.
