Tsakalotos stands ground on taxes, finalises social dividend plan
Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos used his speech to Parliament on Thursday concerning the draft budget to defend the government’s fiscal choices, which have often provided the opposition parties with cause to attack Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s administration.
Tsakalotos rejected accusations from New Democracy that this year’s primary surplus, which is expected to exceed the 1.75 percent of GDP primary surplus target by around 1 percentage points, was the result of overtaxation.
