As the government gauges the reaction of the European institutions to the tax relief measures it is planning to unveil in the coming days, New Democracy is attempting to outmanoeuvre SYRIZA over the pre-legislated reduction of the tax-free threshold.
Opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis revealed on Wednesday in a TV interview that his party will table on Monday an amendment proposing the cancellation of the lowering of the tax-free threshold for incomes, which is due to kick in from January.
