Deposits drop by EU1.21 bln in January, first decline in a year

The outstanding balance of private sector deposits dropped to 162.1 billion euros, reflecting savings of 68.5 billion euros, followed by time deposits of 43.6 billion euros and sight deposits of 49.6 billion euros.

A breakdown of the figures revealed that savings rose by 917 million euros last month. Sight deposits dropped by 1.29 billion euros, while time deposits fell by 839 million euros.
