In March, Greece recorded a strong employment balance as monitored in the Labour Ministry’s database ERGANI with 63,689 more hires than departures, breaking the previous record of March last year that was just short of 62,000. The month has high seasonality due to the Easter holiday that boosts retail activity and the start of the tourism season. Accommodation jobs had the highest balance with 20,481 more jobs, followed by catering with 12,916, then retail with 3,101. The job with the highest balance was waiters with 9,113 more hires.
