A visit by European Parliament president Martin Schulz to Cyprus on Wednesday added to the sense that the EU is holding out high hopes for a successful conclusion to the island’s reunification talks this year.
Schulz told MPs in Cyprus that a few years could have imagined that there would be “a realistic possibility” of solving the Cyprus problem. He urged all sides to “seize this historic chance.”
