The tension that had been building since the summer between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his predecessor Antonis Samaras erupted over the weekend, when the New Democracy leader ousted the ex-premier from the party's parliamentary group after the latter criticised the government again in a newspaper interview and called for Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis to be removed from his position.
