Covid-19 puts pressure on health system, forces govt into more restrictions
As the pressure on the national health system grows due to an increase in Covid-19 patients, the government has introduced new restrictions for the greater Athens area and officials are not ruling out further measures to prevent the disease spreading.
As of Tuesday, there were 67 intubated patients across Greece, prompting Deputy Health Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis to warn that places in ICUs are running out. He said that a total of around 200 people can be cared for in intensive care nationally.
