New Democracy is hoping that by leaving MEP Anna-Michelle Assimakopoulou off its candidate list for the upcoming European Parliament elections following the row about how she obtained voters' email addresses it has laid the potentially damaging issue to rest.
However, opposition parties are pressing government officials to provide clearer answers about how the MEP got hold of the personal data of Greeks who had registered to vote from abroad, which she then used for campaigning purposes.
