Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s assessment of Sunday’s disappointing European Parliament election result for New Democracy is that his centre-right party suffered as a result of the low turnout and that the government will have to make adjustments between now and the next national vote, due in three years, although this will not involve a shift to the right.
This was the summary of the outlook provided by Mitsotakis in his first TV interview on Tuesday night after ND gained just 28.3 pct of the vote, which was well short of the target the PM had set, at around 33 pct.
