Opinion polls suggest that the upcoming elections, which most observers expect to be held on May 21, will result in a deadlock but Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis hopes that they could act a springboard for New Democracy to secure an outright majority in a second ballot a few weeks later, possibly on July 2.
