Privatisation of key northern ports on hold amid strategic rethink

The ports of Alexandroupoli and Kavala in northern Greece are to remain under state control, according to a surprise announcement made last week.

The government announced that it was calling off the tender for Alexandroupolis because of the geostrategic importance of the site and its facilities, while it was also reconsidering plans for Kavala.
