Rise of smaller parties a barrier to decisive result in first elections

Buoyed by another opinion poll showing that his party is starting to pick up support ahead of the May 21 elections, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is due to set out his policy agenda on Wednesday, informing voters of what they can expect if New Democracy is re-elected.

However, attention over the past few days has also shifted to the smaller parties, which may yet play a significant role in next month’s vote, as well as a second ballot that could follow on July 2.
