Tsipras and the IMF: Another miscalculation?
Following Saturday’s leak of the exchange between the International Monetary Fund’s European Department director Poul Thomsen and the head of the mission to Greece Delia Velculescu, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s reading of the situation and his reaction to the WikiLeaks publication were puzzling.

Greek banks: Taking stock of a rough 2015 and looking at what lies ahead
Greek banks concluded the release of fourth-quarter (Q4) results in the first half of March. All core banks posted net loss at the bottom line largely due to one-offs, higher provisions and seasonally increased operating expenses.

Multiple crises fence in Greece
In its first period in government, between January and September 2015, SYRIZA did not experience any general strikes. Since the September elections there have been three, making the number of such protests one of the few things in Greece that is heading upwards. The other rising indicator is the number of pressing problems Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras faces.

Greek pensions: The unsolvable equation
Last July the conditionality of Greece’s third programme included savings of 1 percent of GDP from pensions. It did not require any major fortune telling skills to anticipate that this would soon lead the government of Alexis Tsipras into an extremely tense situation.
