May is the cruelest month
Today was day one of the Brexit negotiations. David Davis and Michel Barnier will be leading what is expected to be one of the most tantalising negotiations in the history of European integration.

Brexit has opened a can of (constitutional) worms
Last Wednesday, 9 months after the Brexit referendum took place, Theresa May triggered Article 50 TEU. The following day, the Government announced legislation to end authority of EU law, while on Friday the President of the EU Council, Donald Tusk released the draft guidelines for the Brexit negotiations.

The Cyprus conundrum
Brendan O’Leary and John McGarry have convincingly explained that every ethnic/religious conflict has a “meta-conflict” level. At the meta-conflict level, the conflicting sides disagree about what the conflict is about. Each side advocates their own understanding about the causes, the nature and the substance of the conflict they are embroiled in.
