EU disunity on refugees and its poisonous effects

Pandora's box ajar for Turkey and Greece?
To put things mildly, things did not go as expected for both sides. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Greece was the first in 65 years after one of the founding fathers of the Turkish Republic, President Celal Bayar's trip in 1952. And now, as a consequence of this diplomatic flop, there might not be a similar visit for some time to come at least; if not for the next 65 years.

Why it makes sense for ESM to swap Greece's IMF loans
In an interview over the weekend, the head of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) Klaus Regling aside from the optimism on the progress of the current review hinted of one of the options that eurozone lenders might be willing to consider for the debt relief that Greece is due to receive by the end of the programme.

Greece's open floodgates
The sun shone in Athens on Monday and the government announced an extensive compensation package for households and businesses afflicted by the catastrophic flooding in western parts of the capital over the previous days. Both events, though, could not disguise the tragic nature of what happened last week.
